NFL – Indianapolis Colts pull out starters and lose their perfect streak against N.Y. Jets

Jim Caldwell, Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, pulled out his starters in the third quarter and seriously jeopardized the Colts’ chances to finish off a perfect season. Perhaps, behind the sour-sweet reaction from Indianapolis fans, Caldwell might have just made the best decision in the long run. Back in 2007, the New England Patriots team had proved that perfection has its own flaws. The Patriots had had the perfect season – almost. There is a certain cruelty in the Patriots ending their perfect streak in the game that mattered most: the Super Bowl XLII. So this year’s Colts might not be perfect, but they are quite virtuous, and this might very well be what makes the difference between holding a perfect record, or the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Let’s face it: the NFL record 23 regular-season winning game strike came to an end while 3 times MVP Payton Manning looked from the sidelines. But Manning and Co. are going to the postseason in top shape, with home team

How To Manage NFL Bye Weeks in Fantasy Football

How To Manage NFL Bye Weeks in Fantasy Football

Many fantasy pundits will claim that fantasy football is the easiest fantasy sport to play since there are only 17 weeks in the NFL season and, generally, only 16 weeks in a typical fantasy football season. While that may be true, there are many other factors for fantasy football players to contend with that fantasy baseball, fantasy basketball and fantasy hockey players do not have to contend with. These factors include higher injury rates, platoon situations, weather conditions and one element that is emphasized much greater in a short season; the dreaded Bye Week.

During the NFL season, the schedule will show that some teams will not play a game on one of the weeks starting in week 4 and ending in week 10. On the low end, four NFL teams will be given a week off during this 7-week stretch and as many as six NFL teams will have a week off. This change was introduced by the NFL to give teams a chance to rest and recover from injury….so they say. Of course,

NFL Round 2 mock draft 2010 – all details

Here is the NFL round 2 mock draft 2010. The NFL mock draft for round 2 has to put Colt McCoy somewhere early in this round. He might fall in the same problem late in the round if he gets passed up again like Clausen in round 2.

It’s very hard to think of any mock draft on Thursday that would have put Colt McCoy not in round 1 with Clausen. It is pertinent to mention that McCoy won the Manning Award for best college quarterback. He even won the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Player of the Year, along with Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award and Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Even after winning most of the awards in 2009-2010 season, the teams are still not looking for a quarterback in round 1 and not even early second round.

NFL Draft 2010 Order Second Round

1(33) St. Louis Rams
2(34) Minnesota Vikings (from Detroit)
3(35) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4(36) Kansas City Chiefs
5(37) Philadelphia Eagles (from

BetRepublic.com NFL Power Rankings

BetRepublic.com NFL Power Rankings

Not wanting to overreact, when the Pittsburgh Steelers lost straight-up to Cleveland last Thursday our power ranking minds immediately started pondering how much weight the upset should have on overall ratings. The Steelers were No. 9 on last week’s chart but that loss was not the kind of football we’ve come to expect over the past few years from this team.

It must be a similar situation for an online sportsbook when writing a line after such a surprising lack of effort from an inherently good team. Do you make them a big dog the next week or bank on public support for the team that was upset to dust off and come back strong?

If the rankings were based on the past month Big Ben would probably be positioned somewhere down near the Ryan Fitzpatrick’s and Josh Freeman’s of the league. But the BetRepublic.com ratings our based on full season performance so the

2010 Carolina Panthers: NFL Schedule and Odds

The 2010 Carolina Panthers, just 2 years removed from being the top seed in the NFC and possibly in 2011 Superbowl odds, will begin their NFL schedule on a quest to claw back into the playoffs with a September 12th opening game at New York against the Giants in the new Giants Stadium. The Giants are also launching a comeback season after missing the playoffs in NFL betting last year. The Panthers will then host NFC South rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 19th and then entertain the AFC North champion Cincinnati Bengals on September 26th. Then it’s back to the road at the New Orleans Saints with a game against the world champions on October 3rd.

Carolina will host the Chicago Bears on October 10th before a week 6 open date on the Panthers 2010 NFL schedule. Carolina returns to action on October 24th at home against the San Francisco 49ers before traveling to St. Louis for a Halloween game against the woeful Rams. The Saints visit
